The Team
John Lancaster
John Lancaster, owner of Venture Homes, has been building homes in Wilmington for over 30 years. After graduating from East Carolina University, his career in banking with BB&T brought him to Wilmington and led him into real estate and development.
He’s passionate about residential construction and loves seeing each project come to life. He has a deep appreciation
for coastal living and spends much of his time outside of work on the water, especially fishing.
One of the most meaningful parts of his career today is working alongside his son, Austin, and continuing to grow the family business together.
Austin Lancaster
Austin Lancaster grew up in Wilmington, NC. He has a strong appreciation for the coastal lifestyle, from fishing and hunting to surfing and spending time on the water with his family. He began working for Venture Homes in his early 20s and, over the past 10+ years, has worked his
way up from the cleanup crew to become the company’s manager.
Known for his strong work ethic and easygoing nature, Austin is well-liked by homeowners and a pleasure to work with on-ite. He takes pride in being part of a family business and working alongside his family to continue growing Venture Homes.
Letty Lancaster
Letty Lancaster plays a key role in the design of Venture Homes’ spec houses, bringing a thoughtful and cohesive vision to each project. Originally born in Cuba and raised in Charlotte, NC, she met her husband John, while attending East Carolina University.
She began working on for Venture about 15 years ago and has since developed a strong eye for creating beautiful,functional spaces that feel like home.
She loves working alongside her husband and son and takes great pride in what John has built with Venture Homes.
Zac Smith
As the Controller for Venture Homes, I manage all financial operations while supporting our team in bringing projects to life. I’ve always loved building — from childhood projects to a college job in remodeling — and eventually found the perfect way to blend that passion with my finance degree.
What I enjoy most about this industry is watching a home transform from an empty lot into a place where families will make lasting memories.
Outside of work, you’ll find me watching football, gaming, or out on the water boating and relaxing at the beach. Most of all, I love spending time with my wife and son.
I’ve been proud to be part of the Venture team for the past year and look forward to many more!
Vicky Hutchins
As the Office Manager for Venture Homes, I work with the clients and sub-contractors in keeping track of documentation and budgets, county permitting, submitting to ARC’s and ensuring smooth project flow from planning to completion.
I find the most fulfilling part of the new build process is working as a team to create a
home…from the site prep to the framework, to the finishing touches and ultimately
handing over the keys to the homeowner.
I spend my free time with my family, traveling and gardening.
